MEGADETH Drummer To Fill In With Alice Cooper
On Australian Tourdates
Megadeth drummer Jimmy DeGrasso has been a very busy man of late. While promoting the heavily anticipated upcoming release, 'The World Needs A Hero' (due May 15th through Sanctuary Records), Jimmy has been unexpectedly tapped by former employer Alice Cooper to fill in for some Australian tourdates. Jimmy DeGrasso was the full-time drummer for Alice Cooper prior to joining the ranks of the mighty Megadeth. Alice then replaced Jimmy with Eric Singer, who is ironically also in Australia touring with KISS.
Jimmy is joining Cooper on the following dates:
Friday, April 13th Newcastle Entertainment Centre
Saturday, April 14th Gold Coast Carrera Stadium
Tuesday, April 17th Perth Entertainment Centre
Thursday, April 19th Adelaide Entertainment Centre
Friday, April 20th Melbourne Rod Laver Arena
Saturday, April 21st Sydney Superdome
This will be merely a brief hiatus for Jimmy, however, as he will return to the US in time for Megadeth to embark on a 12-city "The World Needs A Hero Record Release Party Tour" in late April, which also includes acoustic performances.
The only way for the public to attend the record release parties is to obtain passes from the sponsoring radio station in each city. The party starts when Megadeth and a local disc jockey introduce The World Needs A Hero to the crowd. After the entire CD plays, Megadeth will go on stage and perform an acoustic set approximately 40 minutes long consisting of both old and new songs. Following the acoustic set, Megadeth will meet and talk with fans for 60 to 90 minutes. (Philadelphia fans are really in for a treat because the May 10 party at the Fels Planetarium at the Franklin Institute will include a laser light show.)
